We both almost didn't go out that night. You made the first move anyway, and I've been trying to keep up ever since. Yes, I'm still telling everyone you made the first move.

A blanket by the lake and nowhere to be. I didn't know it yet, but I'd be back at that exact spot one day with a ring in my pocket.

Our first trip · Bali

The trip that set the tone.

Bali was the first time we went somewhere far together, and it's been the best version of us ever since. Every trip after that has felt like a little bit of Bali.

Every room, every piece of furniture you brought back to life, even my own office. I walk around our house and see you everywhere.

You make things beautiful.

You redid our whole home yourself. You paint, you refinish old furniture, you even set up my own office. You learn whatever you want and then you're just good at it. Everyone should know how badass you are. I just get to see it every day.

So of course the wedding is yours to design too.

The one thing I'm not negotiating on

I need to see you in a wedding dress.

I know you've pictured it, and I'm not letting you miss it. Whatever you imagine, whatever style, whatever feeling, I want to look up and see you walking toward me in it. Start saving pictures. Go try them on. I'll be the one trying not to cry, and probably failing.

The Party

When we get home, we rent out a place in St. Louis and throw a big party so everyone who couldn't come gets to celebrate with us too.

When: late 2027 or early 2028. You pick the exact date. I just want to be standing there when you do.

I know you think this is still a long way off. I know we've talked about it like a someday thing. I'm done with someday.

Ever since you walked up to me that Halloween, my life has been better in every way I can measure. You made our house a home. You make every trip an adventure. You make the ordinary days the best ones.

You deserve the dress, the place, the moment, all of it. I want to give you that, and I want to give it to you soon.

So pick a date. Pick a place. Start looking at dresses. I'm serious. We're finally doing it.
